Benefits of Turmeric
There are so many benefits to consuming turmeric. There are two recommended ways that it can be consumed, in its powdered form or as an extract.
This is how I use it:
Because this spice is loaded with rich nutrients such as protein, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Vitamin K, potassium, calcium, copper, iron, magnesium and zinc it is wonderful for delaying diabetes, relieving arthritis, an immunity booster, fighting cancer and protecting the brain.
This is how I use it:
- A cure for my upset stomach. When I eat too much or just simply have an upset stomach I make myself a turmeric tea with spices and almond milk. It takes some getting used to as the turmeric is a bit bitter but the healing properties in it is worth it. Recipe to come!
- Add it to my tinted moisturizer. I add a tiny bit of turmeric to my moisturizer and it gives my face this amazing glow. No need for bronzers!
- Tooth whitener. When I first heard of turmeric being used as a tooth whitener I ran to the computer to verify this crazy information I had just received! Low and behold! They were correct. So of course I go and get my turmeric and put some on my toothbrush, brushed for a couple of minutes and rinsed. I've done this three times and I definitely see a difference. By the way, your bristles will turn a yellowish orangey color so be cautioned!

Benefits and Uses of Coconut Oil
Do you know how versatile, healthy and nutritious coconut oil is?
COOKING: It has a very high smoking point so it's great for stir-frys or for light frying. I love fried eggs with coconut oil, it gives it a hint of nuttiness. It's also great for baking! I have replaced most oils and/or butter in certain recipes with it. I have an amazing banana bread recipe that uses coconut oil in it which I'll share at a later date.
FACIAL CREAM: It is also a wonderful skin moisturizer, just rub in a little on your face at night and it works better than a facial skin cream. One of the concerns for using coconut oil on the face is that it may clog pores and be too oily. That is not the case. You see, coconut oil is antimicrobial, antifungal, and antibacterial so it not only helps to moisturize your skin but also prevent and diminish acne and blemishes.
HAIR TAMER: If you have unruly curly hair then this works wonders. After you shower, just rub a small amount of oil in your hands then rub your hands through your hair and voila! This also works for straight hair by the way, but instead of rubbing it into wet hair, style your hair as usual and rub a small amount on your hands and pat onto hair. My hair is very fine and straight and this works great when the weather is dry and causes fly-aways.
TOOTHPASTE: I truly love making my own toothpaste. I was a bit hesitant at first, we're so used to the convenience of having it come in a squeeze tube with flavor options. I had been using fluoride-free toothpaste since 2001 until last year when I discovered this wonderful make at home coconut oil recipe. In my recipe, I add peppermint and clove essential oils because of the health benefits. Thanks to the recipe I found on Wellness Mama, I will never have to use store bought toothpaste again!
DEODORANT: Your traditional deodorants are all loaded with aluminum and all natural deodorants can be very pricey and honestly don't work the way I'd like. Coconut oil and baking soda work wonders together for so many things! It not only keeps you dry but it doesn't smell either!
